Building a level design team for a mobile icon
Since September 2025, I've been working as Lead Level Designer at UserWise on Fruit Ninja Adventures - a new entry in the iconic Fruit Ninja franchise (with the first two months being part-time, because of other commitments).
I joined the project as its first and only level designer. I built the level design pipeline from the ground up: production workflows and standards, documentation, and eventually hiring and onboarding new team members. I also designed and managed production of level design tools that reduced level production time by over 60%. Before scaling the team, I designed the initial level batch myself - those levels became our reference template for pacing, difficulty, and mobile readability.
Today I lead the level design team, maintain quality across level production, and stay hands-on - crafting fun, mobile-first levels that match the pace and clarity players expect from Fruit Ninja. As lead, I'm also pragmatic about modern production workflows, including using AI to support (not replace) internal tooling and documentation.
Fun fact: The original Fruit Ninja was one of the first games I played after buying my first Android phone.
